I've been using these things as my wallpapers so often, I figured I'd give one a shot... I took a look at Greg Martin's tutorials as well as a few others and went from there. I'm not really satisfied by a lot of it, but it's a hell of a lot better than I expected from a first attempt.
I like it Very good for a first shot! Here is my first also [link] If I may say.. the planets look kinda unrealistic I think.. kinda toy-like... I don't know.. It just dont feel like huge plante.. The texture on the small one is not fir.. the dark holes are just too huge.. you can't find something like that in real space.. its just what I think... But the starfield looks absolutely amazing!! You did a very good job on it I want to try to make some of the Linse flare stars in my next picture... You shuld try too.. they look amazing!

A lot of people have commented on cracks being to big, and in hindsight, I agree. I think if the moon was signifigantly smaller, it would be better; the gas giant would look bigger, and the cracks would be less noticeable. Not gonna go back and change it at this point though.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
